La de dah Kids

Today we chat to Rebecca of La De Dah Kids, a Finders Keepers debut stall from 2012, and a label that has evolved over the years into an adorable lifestyle brand.  You can find La De Dah Kids at our Melbourne AW15 market next month.  Read on to learn about that evolution and highlights along the way.

We interviewed your label in 2012 here.  Tell us how you’ve evolved as a label since then?
We have expanded our product range in to a lot more homewares and this year will see us move into even more product categories, which we are super excited about.  We have also grown to have the help of a small team and we recently hired our first full time staff member which is exciting.

What has been some highlights for La De Dah Kids since then?
Honestly seeing kids and parents getting so much joy from our toys and products.  We have had some beautiful stories of our toys offering comfort to families in time of sickness and hardship – this is definitely a highlight.

How much time a week do you dedicate to your label and what does a typical day working involve for you?
The hours are endless and seem to be increasing with what we dedicate to the La de dah kids brand.  We work five days a week and a lot of weekends and late nights.  There is no one day that is the same and we work on everything from product to packing to styling to book keeping on a daily basis.  We love what we do and it is very much a lifestyle that we love that we manage to juggle with being parents and running a business.

What would be one piece of advice you would give a first time seller at The Finders Keepers?
The Finders Keepers checklist is a great resource to ensure that you cover off all the must have items.  Having your brand displayed clearly for people to see.  And talk to your customers.  We not only sell at these markets but get so much inspiration from talking to our customers about their wants and needs.  Markets is very much a time we love to connect face to face with our customers.

Tell us something exciting that you have planned for La De Dah Kids this year.
We have been working with new manufacturers since January on some new products which we are excited to see come to life.
We are also hitting the Global trade fair circuit exhibiting and taking our little Brand to Paris and Tokyo this year, which we are beyond excited about.

Name one resource that your label could not live without?
Travel is a great resource for our label both in growing our unique ethical manufacturing process and also inspiration. It really in the backbone of our company and something both myself and my business partner feel very passionate about.
