FK chats to the lovely ladies Sally and Margie, behind Sydney based Sirens Swimwear.
Can you tell the story about how Sirens Swimwear came to be?
Inspired by the swimsuits our mothers wore when they were young, we set about designing a collection that is vintage in its design but takes advantage of today’s lycra technology. Its Ava Gardner meets Nancy Ganz!
What are your own backgrounds and how did you meet?
Introduced by friends, we met when our children were babies. Drawn together by “The Bold and Beautiful” and a silly sense of humour, it’s a partnership based in great friendship.
What do you love about working with swimwear?
There is nothing more satisfying than selling a swimsuit to a customer who has reclaimed her va va voom in one of our designs! It’s like a community service!
What inspires your label and what keeps you motivated?
Seeing the obvious joy and excitement on the faces of women trying on our swimwear. They can’t believe they look so good and are so relieved to finally find something that fits beautifully and looks sensational. It’s incredibly satisfying to know we are onto the right thing.
What have you learnt since you started the label, and what do you love the most about running your own business?
To go with our instinct while listening to each other at the same time. It’s great to see things from two different perspectives. We love the freedom of being able to work to our own schedule and the stimulation of always thinking of new ideas and seeing them all come to fruition. We also adore all the gorgeous people we meet on our journey.
Can you tell us about the new range, and what we can look forward to this Summer?
Following the incredible success of last season, we have continued with the cheeky fifties inspired gingham and spots, while introducing a smart stripe and heavenly floral. Our styles remain true to the 50s era we adore, keeping the lining that holds figures firm while being comfortable. You can look forward to more drop dead gorgeous swimwear that you don’t have to be size 8 to wear, but makes you look and feel like a glamorous 50s movie siren.
Great to see vintage and modern being integrated. Love the pieces featured.
Buying a durable sexy swimsuit offers a range of advantages, including longevity, comfort, confidence, versatility, sustainability, performance, and easier maintenance.
