FK talks to Sass and Case from Melbourne design store In The Woods.

Tell us about In The Woods and how it came to be?
In The Woods is a space that provides a number of reasons to pop by. We have a select range of design products and curiosities, along with making delicious, sustainable coffee and a sweet-treat offering, you can simply come in for your daily caffeine hit and a chat! the store came about when the ideal space on a favourite strip became available. Our personal appreciation for both design and coffee brought it all together when considering a concept.

What treasure can be discovered at In The Woods?
Unique new design and homeware products from both Australia and abroad. We love interesting design slightly left of centre, and we strive to source products that can’t be found just anywhere.

What do you look for when sourcing products to sell in your shop and how do you source them?
The world wide web is a MAJOR asset to us, we trawl all our favourite design blogs and sites to find that special something. We are intrigued by taking an ordinary inanimate object and making it beautiful and desirable albeit functional.

What sort of people can we find shopping at In The Woods?
All walks of life; from people curious by our shop fit out and window displays, to the avid design hunter.

What has been the most successful aspect of your shop?
Due to the fact we are somewhat a dual purpose – store as well as coffee shop, it’s hard to pin point what has been the most successful aspect! We feel that general appreciation of what we’re doing is our strongest motivation.

When not at the shop, what is your favourite thing to do in Melbourne?
On our very sacred day off, we like to start it off right with a trip to one of our many favourite cafes, then either some time in the park with our hound, or a traipse round the many wonderful galleries, or simply a crossword and some down time!
