FK chats to Georgie one team member of stationery label Wolley, together they create quirky and fun stationery products in their Graphic Design studio, Woolloogabba Brisbane!  Find Wolley at our Brisbane SS14 market this November!

Tell us a bit about Wolley and what we can expect to discover?
Hi there!  We are Wolley, a small graphic design studio based in Brisbane.  Originally specialising in wedding stationery, we have recently extended our range to include a selection of greeting cards, gift tags, wrapping paper, string and traditional stamps.

Who are the team behind Wolley and what are their roles?
Headed by partners in crime, Georgie Plant and Rachel Pisasale and manned by a team of three more lovely creatives (Anna, Mitch and Thom), Wolley is a collaboration of quirky souls.  Designers by day and just plain awesome by night.

What do you love about working with stationery and what keeps you creatively motivated?
Getting to touch the finished product.  It’s one thing to see a design onscreen but it really comes to life when it becomes a printed product.  Also knowing that something you have created may bring a smile to the face of the recipient is reward enough.  Working with a team of talented people is both inspiration and motivation.

What is your workspace like and what is your creative process?
Our studio is located above a coffee shop in Woolloongabba, meaning it is constantly filled with the smell of roasting brownies and crispy bacon.  It is an open plan creative space with white brick walls, sky high ceilings and polished wooden floors.  There are pops of colour throughout (mostly yellow) and some gorgeous original paintings by the talented Thom Stuart.  The radio is always on and the channel is switched between Triple and Double J on many occasions throughout the day.  We all approach our designs in different ways, some sketch out ideas on paper and others just go straight for the mouse.

What challenges have you faced starting your own label, and what are some things you love about it?
Being a side project to our main corporate company (Bright Yellow), the biggest enemy to our brand is a lack of time.  That said, it provides us a much needed reprieve from corporate style guides at moments throughout the day so that is definitely a reason to love it!

What can we expect to see from Wolley at the upcoming Brisbane Markets?
Our range reflects our personalities, so we hope you like it because that means you’ll like us!  From Wolley you can expect to see crazy colour, blinding bling and friendly smiles. Can’t wait to meet you!
