MIMAW is an ‘Ideas-based’ design and making studio operating in the intersection of craft, design and technology. What started out as a 3d printing heavily-concentrated studio, is now evolving in the exploration of different materials, mediums and details in conjunction with emerging technologies. At its core, it is creatively and imaginatively steered by Vei Tan and materially challenged and detailed by Patrick Macasaet. We continue the attitude of creating pieces that embed function, technique and play inspired by our studio’s approach of exaggerating and re-imagining memories, everyday objects and experiences.
MIMAW exists with the desire to make but in the process re-define new approaches of what ‘craft’ is and can be. Merging the familiar with the unfamiliar and making the generic the exception.
