Caper is the collective experiment of six local students. We release an issue of hand printed t-shirts and tote bags every 3 months. Each new issue consists of four shirt designs, and two tote designs. In each issue, we try to focus on one idea so that we can play with it in depth and in different ways.
We prefer not to confine ourselves to any specific design aesthetic. Instead, we like to draw from diverse influences; the stranger the better! Despite our wandering dispositions we always strive to avoid the obvious and to maintain an attention to detail.
We decided to keep our first issue simple to see what we could create within the confines of black on white line designs. In our subsequent collections, we play with ideas such as the representation of texture, and images of exotic fruits. Ultimately, we want to make shirts and bags with compelling designs which can be worn and carried comfortably - everyday items that can be relished.
