From her own hand sewn creations at the age of five to her experience in the fashion industry and industrial design, BONIKO creator and director Rio Lilley has brought to Australia a wealth of knowledge and passion to develop her own idiosyncratic style. Japanese born, Australian based, Rio’s fascination for beautiful textiles and transformation began at an early age. Growing up with grandparents who ran a tailoring business she learnt the importance of quality, attention to detail and the timeless nature of good design.
BONIKO’s SAFEHOUSE presents her signature organic cotton legwear range and other re-make / limited production projects. With an emphasis on sustainability and multi-functionality, her creations strike a balance between minimalism and imagination.
