Rethink, Reuse, Reconnect

We’re excited to partner with Banish during National Recycling Week 2025. Banish is leading a movement inspiring Australians to turn small actions into significant environmental change, and they’re making recycling easy at our Sydney Design Market SS25 with hard-to-recycle stations around the venue – read on for what to bring with you!

At The Finders Keepers, we believe that creativity and sustainability are intertwined. It’s about making, buying, and living intentionally – values that Banish exemplifies. Our shared vision is to build a future where consumption minimises environmental harm.

Who is Banish?

Founded by Lottie, Banish is on a mission to educate, empower, and inspire sustainable change. Their efforts extend beyond waste sorting; they educate Australians on living lighter, reducing waste, and making more sustainable choices both at home and elsewhere.

The Banish Recycling and Diversion (BRAD) program addresses hard-to-recycle items like blister packs, beauty products, and old pens, preventing them from ending up in landfills and ensuring proper disposal. Its approach is practical, purposeful, and environmentally friendly. What truly distinguishes Banish is its focus on making sustainability approachable and motivating, rather than overwhelming. The goal isn’t perfection but progress, community, and connection.

Join the Banish Activation at the Market

To celebrate National Recycling Week, we’re teaming up with Banish for something special at our Sydney Design Market (14–16 November).

Here’s what’s happening:

  • Drop-in Lid Sorting Workshops: You’ll even get to join in the fun! Sort bottle top lids with the Banish team, learn about their recycling process, and see how those lids are transformed into something new. Each participant will walk away with a recycled plastic star made from five bottle top lids, complete with a co-branded swing tag.
  • Shop Upcycled Creations: Explore their retail space featuring products made from plastics that have been given a second life. Banish will be bringing along their wonderfully recycled pens, laptop sets, carabiners, earrings, coasters and much more.
  • Recycle with BRAD: Bring along your hard-to-recycle items (like empty beauty tubes, coffee pods, or pens) and drop them into the onsite BRAD boxes. Banish will make sure they’re recycled properly for free!

It’s an easy, feel-good way to take action,  and a beautiful reminder that sustainability thrives when we all play a part.

Lottie’s Market Picks

We couldn’t let Lottie join us without getting her top market must-haves from this season’s Sydney lineup! From pantry staples to creative gifts, here’s what she’s most excited to discover:

  1. Chilli Oil, Soka Pantry Co: “I cannot stop adding chilli oil to just about everything, so I always need extra on hand! I can’t wait to try this one.”
  2. Handcrafted Oil Pourer, Arcadia Scott Ceramics: “I’ve had one of these on my Christmas wishlist for a while now, and I love the shape of this one.”
  3. High Glow, Flavedo: “This highlighter is my go-to, so while I’m finishing off my Christmas shopping, I’ll also grab myself a top-up.”
  4. Handmade Ceramic Palette, Gazal Ceramics: “There’s an artist in my family who will love this unique handmade accessory.”
  5. Cards, Heather Grafton: “I’ve recently started collecting cards with meaning because you never know when you’re going to need them. I’ll be popping by here!”
  6. The Avo – Egg Cup + Bowl, House of Nunu: “This is so cute! I love the colours, the shape, and I could use it every day!”

Let’s make it matter

Our partnership with Banish goes beyond recycling; it centres on community, creativity, and working together. Each small decision, whether it’s how we shop or dispose of items, contributes to a larger impact.

So bring your lids, your empty bottles, and your eagerness to lend a hand, and join us in celebrating the people, products, and purpose behind a more sustainable future.
