When it comes to market weekends, preparation is key! We asked our experienced stallholders to share their must-haves for a smooth and successful market, and we’ve rounded them up into the ultimate checklist. Here are 10 things you should have in your market toolkit:
1. Hydration
Staying hydrated is a must, whether it’s summer or winter. Bring a reusable water bottle, hydration tablets, or a bottle of Powerade to keep you energised. Long hours on your feet mean you’ll need to replenish fluids so you can power through multi-day events.

2. Chargers and Power Banks
Keep your devices running by packing chargers and a fully charged power bank. If your stall includes power, bring along your cables (tagged and tested by an electrician, as required at FK events). If not, a power bank will ensure you’re not caught out without power.
3. Mints or Oral Care Essentials
Fresh breath is essential for chatting with customers all day. Pack mints, sugar-free gum, or even a toothbrush and toothpaste if you have time for a quick refresh. Xylitol gum is a great choice, as it promotes saliva production.

4. Chair or Ladder-Chair Combo
A chair that doubles as a ladder? Genius! Take quick breaks and easily set up those hard-to-reach displays. It’s practical and multi-functional—perfect for a busy market day.
5. Mini First Aid Kit
Be prepared for any little emergencies. Stock your kit with headache relief, remedies for sore feet or lower back pain, allergy medications, band-aids, lip balm, tissues, and throat lozenges (eucalyptus drops are great). You’ll be thankful to have it on hand.
6. Hand Sanitizer
Keep yourself and your customers safe and clean with a good-quality hand sanitizer. It’s an easy way to maintain hygiene during a busy market day.
7. Quick-Fix Stationery
Pack scissors, a variety of tapes, extra pricing labels or stickers, rubber bands, sharpies, and anything else you might need for last-minute fixes or adjustments. These items can save the day!

8. Extra Bags or Wrapping Supplies
Bring extra bags, wrapping paper, or tissue to package purchases for your customers. A thoughtful presentation adds a special touch to their experience.
9. Spare Signage and Decor
Sometimes, signage or displays need tweaking mid-market. Have backup signs, chalkboards, or simple decor pieces to keep your stall looking fresh and inviting.

10. Secret Backup Snacks
Markets can get busy, and you might not have time for a proper meal. Pack some easy-to-eat snacks like protein bars, nuts, or fruit to keep your energy levels up without leaving your stall.
And there you have it, your ultimate market must-haves! It might seem like a lot, but trust us, these essentials will make your market days smoother, brighter, and way more fun. Of course, every maker’s toolkit is different, so tweak the list to suit your style and comfort. Whether it’s your first market or your thirty-first, we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!
