Don’t miss the Studio Twocan stall in Melbourne this weekend!  A creative collaboration between two sisters Maddie and Becc, who create beautiful homewares and artworks.

Tell us a little about yourself and how you came to begin your label.
Studio Twocan is a creative studio, managed by sisters, Maddie and Becc Sharrock.  Sharing a keen and life-long interest in design and creativity, our chosen paths have led us in different directions. Becc – direct, organised and pragmatic – is an experienced graphic designer, having worked in some of Melbourne’s leading design studios. Maddie – fearless, passionate and inspiring – after studying fine art at the Victorian College of the Arts has forged a career in art production and is dedicated to her craft.

Because two heads are better than one, we now embark on our collaborative journey combining our shared skills and knowledge. We challenge the ordinary, and each other, in design and production. Our process borrows equally from the design and art worlds to produce beautiful and meaningful work.

Who inspires you and your creative process?
The artisan in us takes inspiration from experimenting and getting our hands dirty. The designer is us takes inspiration from the refined beauty of objects that surround us.

The core inspiration for our signature Cement Ceramic range is landscapes. Our aim is to emulate the Earth’s natural beauties, referencing aerial views and cross sections of the Australian outback.

Tell us something exciting that you have planned for Studio Twocan this year.
With new techniques and processes, Studio Twocan constantly evolves bringing more creative opportunities and ambitions every year. We’re most excited to be collaborating with architects to create colourful formwork concrete facades, countertops and other large architectural features.

Name one resource that your label could not live without.
It sounds silly but since the beginning, we’ve been using the exact same baking sieve to refining cement. Although old and a bit scrappy, it still does the job and we couldn’t imagine life without it.

Tell us about your favourite product from your collection.
Our absolute favourite is the Double Hole Vase. It’s rectangular shape really featured the organic layering and cavernous pockets, which is contrasted against the smooth wall. We celebrate imperfections, which ensures that each vase is unique, like a work of artwork.
