We love Emma Sadie Thomson’s simple business mission – to bring nature into everyday spaces, to improve mood and provide an overall sense of wellbeing. Read on to discover more about EST, who will be creating a beautiful feature plant space in Adelaide this weekend.
Tell us a little about yourself and how you came to begin your label.
I grew up in rural Victoria and was always surrounded by nature, especially due to my father’s influence, being a horticulturalist and agriculture and science teacher. He actually helps me out at EST now.
EST began in 2014, when I started making terrariums to sell at local markets. With a background in landscape architecture I knew I wanted to reconnect with nature and realised there wasn’t anyone focusing on greenery in spaces. While I was still working in interior design, focusing on retail, office and concession fit-outs, I pursued my business and found new ways to bring nature into people’s live. Above all else, I have a strong passion for nature and want to show people how they can connect with nature.
Who inspires you and your creative process?
I am always looking to nature to inspire. I also love to create products that I can’t seem to find in the commercial market to use in my greenery fit outs or coming up with designs for clients.
Tell us something exciting that you have planned for Emma Sadie Thomson this year.
We are busy working away on new venues that keep popping up around Adelaide, but hopefully we will be moving in to a warehouse space within the next year. We are also doing a pop up shop with some other local creatives at the end of the year.
Name one resource that your label could not live without.
The great nurseries that are around Adelaide.
Tell us about your favourite product from your collection.
We loved working on a collaboration with Katia Carletti and we also have a new range of pots and wall planters that we will be launching at Adelaide AW16 Finders Keepers!
