FK chats to Dan of super cheeky stationery label, I ended up here, based in Sydney. I ended up here is debuting at the upcoming Sydney Markets!

Tell us a bit about I ended up here and what products we can expect to discover?
I Ended Up Here celebrated its first birthday in 2013. We have a passion for stylish illustration and quality products, with a range that includes unique greetings cards, handy notebooks and contemporary art prints.

What is your creative background and how did it lead you to where you are today?
After completing university studies in Textile Design/Illustration in Europe and then designing in a studio in London, I moved my life to Sydney.  I worked in a textile design studio for a few years before setting up my own design business in 2008.

How has your creative style developed over time? and what inspires your work?

For me, it all starts with drawing by hand. I am an illustrator at heart. I incorporated working with computer programs over the years which gives some of my design work a fresh, clean aesthetic that extends across the whole product range.
The ideas come from any direction. I’m often inspired by a considered approach, sense of style and personality in work that can raise a smile.

What is your creative workspace like, and what inspires you about your surroundings?
I’m a bit of a neat freak which definitely shows in my work environment, I also think it comes across in my design work.  My studio space is a refurbished warehouse in Surry Hills so am lucky enough to work in a busy creative area with plenty going on to catch the eye and keep creative ideas bubbling.

What challenges have you faced starting your own label, and what are some things you love about it?
I love the fact that its all consuming, but obviously that can be a challenge in itself. Its still early days for I Ended Up Here and it can be hard to be patient with the progress, at times. I love being responsible for the direction I take things in and I’m learning to balance my own judgement and aesthetic with feedback from stockists and creative friends.  At the end of the day, the market place tells you how you’re going, one way or another.

What can we expect to see from I ended up here at the upcoming Sydney Markets?
A selection of the best of my current range of greetings cards, art prints and handy notebooks. We’re presenting some seasonal designs and showcasing some special offers that are only available at the Finders Keepers markets.
