FK talks to Alice Keep of delicious resin jewellery label KeepResin!

Tell us a bit about KeepResin and what products we can expect to discover?
KeepResin evolved from a love of unique jewellery. I had the desire to create affordable and contemporary resin jewellery. The entire range combines vibrant colours designed to work cohesively together, allowing the wearer to build up a delicious range of complimentary pieces.

What is your creative background and how did it lead you to where you are today?
KeepResin started on my kitchen table a couple of years ago. I have always loved wearing jewellery, especially jewellery that stands out and is noticed – for either it’s colour or design. The basics of resin I learnt form my mum, who is an art, design and technology teacher. Mum passed on her knowledge and here we are today I guess.

What do you love about working with resin jewellery? and what keeps you creatively motivated?
Resin is a really enjoyable material to work with. I love all of the colours that you can create; no two pieces are really truly the same. Resin does sometimes have a mind of it’s own and over time I have been able to slowly figure out what works and what doesn’t. Believe me there have been a lot of mistakes made however the whole process has been a lot of fun.

What do you love about living in the Mornington Peninsula?
The Mornington Peninsula is an amazing part of the world. I have travelled and explored lots of different countries; anywhere from Asia to Europe and Central America and you soon discover what an amazing part of the world we live in. You are surrounded by natural beauty and there is creativity just buzzing in the air. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

What challenges have you faced starting your own label, and what are some things you love about it?
The challenges have been endless. I find my life is a constant balancing act. Not only have I started my own label but also I did it whilst studying full time at university. I have defiantly been busy! However, it sounds cliché, but if you are passionate about what you are doing then everything works out in the end. I love being able to be creative and just make ‘stuff’. I’m in my own little world when I’m in my studio and just to see the whole process come together is amazing. The compliments from customers and lovers of KeepResin just put such a smile on your face and make it all worthwhile.

What aspirations do you have for your label in the future?
I would love to continue to grow and expand more and more into the retail and wholesale area. However I still love doing markets as it really keeps you in touch with your customers and you get a real feel of what they’re wanting and what really sells. I love travelling around Australia to visit different markets and meet new people. I’m continually thinking up new designs and planning the next range – but I feel that it’s important to live in the moment as well and enjoy what you’ve got at that particular time. So for now I just love where I am!

    Really beautiful work!

  • Hello just found you on finders keepers
I have a jewellery store in Orange NSW are you looking for stockists?
I have had over 15 years in the region retailing jewellery and fashion we have now expanded into handcrafted wines from our own vineyard and have relocated to larger premises
We are trying really hard to focus on Australian designers and product.
We have found beautiful candles (Be Enlightened) and soaps as well as chocolate from Coco Chocolate as well as ceramic artists
if so could we arrange to meet or chat and discuss the possibilities?

    Many thanks
