Blinking Flights is about pretty dolls that are special, handmade, and unique. They are each made carefully and slowly by Rebecca in the cosiness of her little house in Wollongong, surrounded by pretty things and people. She loves all dolls, textiles, hunting through op shops, and cuteness in general, and these are the things that make her get out of bed in the morning.
These dolls are not throw away items designed to be pushed aside when a new fad hits, they are keepers, special friends and lifelong companions. All faces are hand embroidered, all fabric is painstakingly chosen, both for texture as well as visual aesthetic. Cottons, linens, wool blends, and felt are all essential components, and the loveliness of re-purposed dresses, tablecloths, and tea-towels feature heavily.
And to share the handmade love around a little, Rebecca has started to screen-print her own line of limited edition fabric panels, as well as a small range of softie-sewing kits, complete with vintage op shop fabric finds!
