Armadillo Goes Green is the result of a trip to South America dedicated to discovering some of the most representative indigenous communities of the continent and all the magic of their multiple traditions.
We work in collaboration with specific tribal and artisan communities in the Guajira desert of Colombia, where they weave our products using traditional techniques. We complete the finished product in Melbourne with the same sustainable materials they used plus high quality hardware.
Our products are ethically made by hand with no machinery involved except for adding zips and labelling. The weaving techniques and motifs have been passed generation to generation for hundreds of years and our business keeps their traditional craft alive and stimulates their economy.
We are partners of a local foundation (Fundacion Sol Azul) in Colombia, supporting the children of the communities that we work with and keep permanent contact with the artisans in the creative and developing process of every bag.
