Alberto Santiago is an artist based in the Blue Mountains, self taught using flemish techniques in an oil base medium. His professional background lies in CG animation and it is through this that an anime style influence is reflected in his works. The final art piece becomes a portrayal of an anime like character depicted in the late 1800s portraiture style with the depth, detail and richness of classical paintings. Each artwork is repainted seven times as a different layer to build up tone and harmonise colours. This whole process can take between a week to six weeks to complete a piece.
From these paintings archival prints are made using giclee on 100% cotton rag velvet fine art paper. Each print is hand signed, embossed and numbered by Alberto to certify that it is a faithful reproduction of the original artwork.
